Ahern Rentals, Inc. is seeking an IT Help Desk Support Level 1. Ideal candidate has a background in AS/400 iSeries and Microsoft systems.

Desktop operating systems, various software applications and basic hardware for the PC; principles and theories of network systems and management; Internet technologies and products; basic understanding of electrical safety procedure.

Successful applicants are responsible, self motivated and confident; can get things done; can intuitively anticipate problems; look beyond immediate issues; take initiative to improve current practices. We are looking for someone who will take pride in the development process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide helpdesk support and resolve problems to the end user’s satisfaction
  • Monitor tickets assigned to the queue and process first-in first-out based on priority
  • Troubleshoot and resolve end-user hardware, operating system, and software related problems, when possible from the Help Desk
  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic network and server access problems for end users, when possible from the Help Desk
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Requirements:

  • AA or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 1-3 years experience working with computer technology in a business environment
  • Maintains strict confidentiality (e.g. passwords and other system security features) for the purpose of ensuring network security
  • Friendly presence, helpful attitude, good interpersonal skills, and ability to work well with others
  • Ability to provide technical assistance and support over the phone; good phone skills, professional demeanor, previous customer service experience strongly desired
  • Good problem solving skills; ability to visualize a problem/situation and think abstractly to solve it
  • Ability to handle constantly changing flow of traffic; remain productive during slow times, be able to multi-task effectively during busy times, exercise patience and professionalism during stressful situations
  • Working knowledge of common operating systems and software applications
  • Must be organized and detail oriented
  • Must have strong communication skills
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
  • Must be able to pass drug screen and background check
  • Must be able to provide Motor Vehicle Record at time of job offer (current within 15 days)
