Job description

Xtreme Cube an industry-leading modular builder is looking for a Construction
Estimator at our Henderson, NV Campus. Previous construction estimating experience is a must, additional experience navigating complex and lengthy sales cycles are preferred. Modular construction knowledge/experience is a plus. This job reports to the Supply Chain Manager. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to work within a growing and dynamic global manufacturing team across several leading industry brands.

As an Estimator, you are responsible for evaluating bid specifications and drawings, ensuring that the company knows everything required to bid and win the project successfully. This person will also need to entail aggressive follow-up with subcontractors to ensure that bids are received. While also working with the project
Management teams to follow up on bids and budgets to close the business.

Requirements May or may not include:

  • Responsible for bid administration in preparing full estimates on complex work.
  • Prepares and maintains the status of plan reproduction.
  • Solicits and maintains communication with subcontractors and vendors.
  • Prepares subcontractor bid packages.
  • Transmits addenda and other bid information to subcontractors.
  • Coordinate and interface with owners, architects, engineers, project managers, and other project team members to resolve any technical matters during planning and development, negotiation, and contract execution.
  • Ensures that the company has the proper coverage from subcontractors on bid day.
  • Shows creativity and resourcefulness to gain better pricing from subcontractors.
  • Submits 100% of bids and budgets by the bid deadline, with no exceptions.
  • Efficient in performing all stages of an estimate, including project selection, estimate organization, take-off, pricing, review, and closeout.
  • Communicate project progress/status with Management.
  • Prepare, analyze, and maintain accurate quantities and thorough take-offs from plans.
  • Estimate time, materials, and equipment required for job completion.

Skills and Experience

  • Have a complete understanding of pricing, and proposal procedures, and execute accordingly
  • Demonstrates the ability to carry on a business conversation with high-level executives, business owners, and decision-makers.
  • Prepares estimates with the proper level of detail for all design stages: Conceptual,
  • Schematic Design, Design Development, and Construction Documents.
  • Assists with maintaining the estimating cost database to ensure costs are up to date.
  • Consults with clients, architects, subcontractors, and material suppliers to discuss and formulate estimates, effect cost reductions, and resolve issues.
  • Studies specifications to assist the operations team in planning procedures for construction based on starting and completion times and staffing requirements for each phase of development.
  • Researches construction documents and analyzes specifications to determine estimated costs.
  • Works with the operations team throughout the preconstruction process in reviewing plans and specifications for constructability issues and determining general requirements on the project.
  • Creates maintains and manages the preconstruction/design schedule for projects.
  • Has the ability to manage and track multiple pre-construction projects at once.
  • Manage the subcontractor prequalification process and assure that awarded subcontractors have the proper experience and financial capabilities to perform on the project.
  • Reviews design documents for proper information to receive accurate pricing from subcontractors and suppliers generates acceptable value engineering ideas and prepares life-cycle costing.
  • Prepares quantity take-offs and estimates costs of materials, labor, and use of equipment required to fulfill all provisions of the contract.
  • Works with the Design Department to utilize Revit or other programs in generating quantities as may be available from design models.
  • Determine the proper trades to pursue and assures that the estimates are created with input from the operations team as to production rates, workforce availability, and general requirements.
  • Ability to travel as needed to meet clients and attend events
  • Adheres to all company policies and procedures
  • Other duties or tasks may be assigned on an as-needed basis

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent field experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of commercial construction experience with a minimum of 1 year of estimating experience.
  • Working knowledge of Quick Bid and On Screen Takeoff Required
  • Capability to complete large CM/GC, CMaR, and Design Build projects and large, complex, competitive bid projects.
  • Independent sales strengths for presentations and project pursuits.
  • History of successfully working internally with the operational team and externally with
  • Owners, Architects/Engineers, and subcontractors.
