A Painter – Prepper prepares walls and other surfaces for painting by using sandpaper, scraping and removing old paint.  They make onsite preparations for building scaffolding and the covering of fixtures and fill cracks and holes with appropriate material like plaster.  Painters blend paints and other materials to achieve the right color or texture and paint surfaces according to instructions with various tools.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


May or may not include:


  • Application of primer to the surface to prepare and protect it until the painters perform their job.
  • Removal of dirt from the surface and parts due for painting.
  • Sand, polish, retouch, buff, degrease, or otherwise clean the surface.
  • Mix color, blend paint, and load paint into spray-painting equipment.
  • Painter experience is not completely necessary, because we are offering on the job training.





  • 2+ years’ residential or commercial painting experience is desirable
  • Reliable transportation and clean driving record
  • Ability to complete projects on-time and on-budget
  • Excellent communication and team-building skills


Physical Demands:


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, or crawl. The employee is required to repeatedly stand, bend, lie down & kneel repeatedly walk, sit, talk, write and hear.


The employee must frequently lift, push, pull, and/or move weights up to 60 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:


While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in a warehouse or office. The employee may be exposed to odors and is required to wear protective gear when exposed fumes, grease, oils, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Parts Supervisors typically work in repair shops or in office areas depending on the size of the facility. The work shops and offices are well lighted and ventilated. An employee of this position may be exposed to poor weather conditions, including extreme heat.
