The primary function of the Parts Counter Associate is to handle internal and external customer requests for parts purchases, both in person and on the telephone. This role is responsible for providing advanced problem resolution including identification, troubleshooting and project assistance for customers. The role has the ability to source from numerous places including special orders. The role has in-depth knowledge of the store inventory and maintenance processes.


  • Wait on customers or mechanics at parts counter or on phone.
  • Research customers' requests and needs where necessary and determine correct part(s) needed.
  • If part(s) is in stock produce invoice from computer system. If not in stock and customer wants to order, create Purchase Order and process orders.
  • Checking in orders and receiving Purchase Orders in the business system.
  • Assisting with inventory and core returns to vendors, including pulling, packing, and shipping.
  • Restock shelves and maintain parts bins, i.e., rearranging parts, cleaning, labeling, etc.
  • Assist with annual parts inventory physical count, to include actual physical counting of parts, tallying of counts, etc.
  • Assist Parts Manager and Branch Manager with miscellaneous tasks.
  • Complete all required job related training.

  • Automotive parts, equipment or systems knowledge
  • Excellent organization and communication skills
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend English instructions
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent 2 year’s parts experience
  • Understanding of office procedures, to include filing, correspondence


  • Automotive/mechanical background is a plus
  • Sales experience preferred
  • Able to adjust and adapt to changes
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Valid driver's license
  • Must pass drug and background screening
  • Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus*
